A Rag Composed in 1902 by Scott Joplin, in those days it was sold as sheet music, a few years later as a ‘Piano Roll’ played automatically on specific pianos who could read roll music without a pianist physically sitting and playing, as if it was a record. Later, in 1928 it was recorded with Guitar and Mandolin by the ‘Blue boys”
As one of the classics of ragtime, it returned to international prominence as part of the ragtime revival in the 1970s, when it was used as the theme music for the 1973 Oscar-winning film “The Sting”.
