Lesson 7 – Trick number six: get lost to find yourself again

Jumping into the water is considered a great move in improvisation. An advanced musician is
supposed to trust himself enough to find an interesting melody line or any improvisation trick to work
in any situation. Many times we run dry of ideas or find ourselves playing the same trick over and
over again, it may sound as if we are repeating ourselves, it may be boring for us, it may be not
interesting enough for the listener. But if we choose to challenge ourselves, we could throw ourselves
to an unknown direction, get lost in the maze in order to find our way out, the way out and
whatever will be played right after that will sound new, fresh, Jazzy, crazy, different, sophisticated
etc.
