Ragtime (known as “rags”) were developed by the “Black” Afro American communities and were typically composed for Piano around the 1890s to 1910s while ‘Swing’ was developed & composed by the Urban mid q high class academic musicians in the early 20s, its hight was in the mid 30’s , this music was composed for Big Bands.
